Clarinet
The clarinet, Chris' principle instrument, is a rich, warm, mature and soothing instrument. It can suit a range of genres, from Classical, Jazz, and melodies from the musicals.
Soprano Saxohone - a new instrument for 2009
Two popular Soprano Saxophonists include the eminent 60's jazz musician John Coltrane, and more recently, popular cover artist Kenny G. The Soprano Saxophone, like the electric guitar has a unique contemporary feel. Both instruments have seen their prominance peak throughout the 20th century - a prominance that continues to this day.
Alto Saxophone
Well known for its use in jazz, similar to the clarinet, can produce that seductive and flowing sound. Yet it is an instrument of two halves, producing and power 'brassy' punch for those swing numbers.
Electric guitar
From Jazz, blues, to rock and its spectrum of styles, a classic instrument....
Classical or Spanish guitar
Known as a Classical or Spanish guitar, this instrument is used in both styles. Subsequently, it has found its way out of Spanish Flamenco and folk origins, into popular music and even jazz, contributing yet another dimension to the varied tones of the guitar world.
Acoustic guitar
The acoustic guitar, widely used over the past 100 years, is an instrument of great versatility. Beautiful finger picking melodies, to romantic love songs, or good old rock 'n' roll. Need I say anymore...?
Mandolin
Made famous by the film Captain Correlli's Mandolin over recent years, (of which Chris performs an arrangement), this instrument is now often used in Welsh, Irish and the rest of the British isles' folk music.
Irish Bouzouki
Irish travellers brought this instrument from its roots in Greece. Similar to the Mandola, and the mandolin, it offers a bright sound. Chris extends its use into Welsh folk music.
